"Yagotynske" cares about the environment by introducing innovative packaging
16 June 2025
Guided by the principle “Yagotynske respects nature”, the “Yagotynske” brand is implementing environmental initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting a circular economy. In particular, it is introducing non-removable caps on products, significantly reducing the plastic content in bottles.
A key element of this environmental initiative is the introduction of non-removable caps on six types of products, including two types of milk, cocoa with milk, fermented baked milk, sourdough and “Gerolact”. This change solves several environmental problems:
• environmental protection: the main goal is to reduce pollution by plastic waste, as caps are often lost separately from the packaging, increasing the amount of garbage;
• compliance with European standards: this initiative complies with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, which obliges manufacturers to ensure that the cap remains attached to the bottle. This is a proactive step, as Ukraine is moving towards European integration.
• Improved recycling: Non-removable caps simplify the recycling process by allowing bottles to be returned with the caps, increasing the total amount of plastic collected and recycled.
In addition to the new caps, Yagotynske has made significant progress in reducing the amount of plastic used in packaging. In particular, the weight of the 270g bottle has been reduced by 34%, and the 450g and 850g bottles by 28%.
Thanks to the weight reduction process, 67.2 tons of plastic were saved in 2024 alone compared to the previous year. The cumulative savings of PET material from 2016 to 2024 is over 301 tons
To help consumers get involved in recycling, Yagotynske clearly labels its packaging with plastic identification codes. These codes include codes such as PET, HDPE and PP, which help customers correctly sort plastic for recycling.
